The Yamashiro Daidengaku Festival celebrates the performing art called dengaku in Yamashiro Onsen. Dengaku is a type of dance that was popular between the twelfth and sixteenth centuries. It has strong ties to Shinto religious practice.
Each August, visitors can enjoy traditional dance and music against a backdrop of bonfires and the summer night sky.
