Snowman Festival ゆきだるま祭り

Thousands of snowmen built by locals and illuminated at night

Each February, residents of the city of Hakusan make and display thousands of snowmen of various shapes and sizes. The first round of the festival takes place in the Kuwajima area, then moves over to neighboring Shiramine a week later.

Many residents take part in building and decorating, and local students help to make the number of snowmen even more impressive. When the sun sets the snowmen are all illuminated to create a glowing, wintery light show.
