Iroha Soan 魯山人いろは草庵

Faithfully maintained cottage where artist Rosanjin stayed in 1915

Iroha Soan is a historic cottage where artist Rosanjin (1883–1959) briefly stayed in 1915. Rosanjin sojourned among the hot springs of Yamashiro Onsen to focus on his calligraphy.

Iroha Soan retains its 1915 layout, with traditional-style tatami mat flooring and enclosed garden. Works by Rosanjin and other artists of the same period are displayed around the cottage.
