Dolls Museum 人形ミュージアム

The history and craft of Japanese dolls

The Dolls Museum showcases the wide range of dolls native to Japan and their importance to local culture. Displays include historical childrens' toys like Isho and Ichimatsu dolls as well as ritual charms such as Hina and Gogatsu dolls. Exhibits include pieces from each region of the country, as well as Russian Matryoshka dolls, perhaps inspired by Japanese styles. After viewing the dolls on display, visitors can try painting their own.

The museum is set in a well-preserved traditional tea house building in Kanazawa's Nishi Chaya district.
